New Year's Ice and Snow

2014 ended with days of snow and ice.   In fact we were going to have a New Year's party at our house and instead had to cancel.   We had snow ball fights, light saber fights, built forts, played with Legos, watched TV,  went to the movies (4 actually Annie, Big Hero 6, Penguins of Madagascar, and Night at the Museum 3).   We were all a little snow stir crazy with 2 weeks of mostly being home, but enjoyed the relaxing and resting.   It was a fun end to a great year!

This girl is 9!

NINE!  I cannot believe it!  This Carley girl is 9!  For her birthday, we redid her room.   She got out of the twin bed and got a double bed with new bedding.   We also moved my old desk into her room for her to use.

The bed she has is very special.   My maternal grandmother, Alta Thurston (Granny), ironed clothes for people to earn money for the bed when my mom (Nana) was little.   My mom and her sister slept on it when they were growing up.  Then when I was growing up, I slept on it.   I had it through college too and out of college, until Cody and I got married and got a queen bed.   Cody painted the wood and made it fresh for our little girl.   We ordered her a new mattress and she was all set.

Birthday Breakfast

We had McDonalds breakfast for Carley's birthday with my family.   It was a lot of fun.    It is always hard to say good bye to our favorite people, but we had a great time when they were here.   Alyssa's kids are so sweet and our getting so big!  We went home and did Legos to heal our sadness and had fun being together.

Christmas Day 2014

We had a great Christmas!   Cody was home and that made it even more fun!   There were some big surprises for our kids this year.   At the same time it was a simple and special low key morning!
- One fun surprise was that Corey had thrown his beloved frog, Freddy on top of the woodwork in our bathroom and Cody and I could not get it down.   Corey wrote to Santa and told him the dilemma, and sure enough, 2 weeks later when Christmas came, Freddy was in Corey's stocking.
- Another surprise was the Carley had wanted to ask for Isabel, the American Girl Doll for 2014.   We had told her she could not ask Santa for Isabel because she really was out growing dolls.   But Santa surprised Carley with Isabel anyway.   The day was filled with Legos, dolls, dress up, light sabers, books, and each other!

Christmas Eve with the O'Rears

Alyssa's family came in for Christmas.   Corey's flu was gone and we were set to celebrate!   The kids sang in the Christmas Eve service and we spent time with Nana and Papa and O'Rears.  It was super fun and the kids were HYPER!
