SNOWED IN!

Lubbock got an unprecedented 13 inches of snow from Saturday to Wednesday.   We were snowed in!   The Nelsons did not leave the house for 4 days!   We couldn't!   Cars, trucks, fire trucks, ambulances were all stuck.   We didn't have mail or trash trucks during this time.  Stores were closed.  It was crazy!   We had a lot of time at home to enjoy the weather and the kids played for hours in the snow.    The drifts in our back yard were about 4 feet high!    It was a once in a life time snow!   The only sad part it that we have had to postpone Carley's 10th birthday stuff.   By the end of it, I had run out of milk and bread and was low on lots of our kitchen staples.   But it was still good and we cuddled by the fire, watched movies, got some home projects done, ate comfort foods, and Cody and I napped every day.    All in all, it was a great break!

Our Carley is 10

I can't even type this post without getting a little teary eyed.   Our baby girl is double digits.   Carley Alyssa has blessed us for 10 years.   She is bright, beautiful, talented, compassionate, caring, quiet, funny, and precious.   She really is so precious.   Carley loves reading.  Her favorite topics to talk about, research, and think about are Greek Mythology, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and any other books.   She is a good friend to others.   She is sensitive.   She could spend all day every day playing her ipad (mine craft), reading, watching teen shows on TV, cuddling, and hanging out.   She is a very good student and loves learning.   She is a very good and protective sister to Corey.   She loves her Mom and Dad fiercely and would choose to spend all of her time with one of us if she could.

Happy Birthday, Carley-girl.   We love you so very much.   We are so very proud of you.  I pray that you will fall in love with Jesus more and more each year and use your beautiful life for His glory.  He has gifted you with many things, a bright mind, a kind heart, a passion for Reading and Learning.   His fingerprints are all over you!   Honor and serve him always.

Christmas for the Nelsons

Since Cody was at the fire station

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, we asked Santa to come a night early for us.   And he did!  Corey had asked for a Remote Control Batmobile and Carley had asked for a Speaker for her IPAD.    We were excited to see he sure did deliver!   Also, Corey had lost his second tooth, so the tooth fairy and Santa came the same night!   Papa and Nana came over for breakfast and enjoyed some time with us!    The next day, Dec 25th, we went to the station and brunch with Cody and the guys.   Then that night we went to Idalou to have Christmas with the Spanns.  It was such a fun few days!

Santa Land 2015

No holiday season would be complete with out a trip to see Santa Land.   The kids were very excited to see Santa and it was the real one this year, which was exciting!   We also love that Papa and Nana usually join us for this each year!  I love sharing these memories with the kids!

Carley's First Piano Recital

Talk about a proud mom moment, Carley had her first piano recital!   She did a great job!  She played Holly Jolly Christmas and Oh Come All Ye Faithful.    She did a great job!   She looked very grown up sitting at the piano.   It was beautiful.   I am sure proud of Carley and her work!   She even played a duet with her teacher, Mrs. Martin.
