Our Busy, Busy Boy

Our baby is getting so be such a busy, busy boy. Seriously, I cannot keep up with him. He continues to me the happiest and sweetest little boy. I am just enamored with him. Here are few things I love about Corey at this age:

1. His CHEESE face. This face he makes in many current pictures while yelling cheese.
2. He shakes his head yes or no for any question you ask him, even if he has no idea what he you are talking about.
3. He loves our dog, Ali. He calls for her all day long and if she is out side, he goes to the door and waves at her. He just adores her.
4. His first and last word each day is "cracker". This boy is hungry ALL DAY LONG.
5. He is mischievous. He is constantly up to something. His favorite things to do are to fall in the bathtub with no water in it and throw out the bath toys, try to open the potty lids, go in closets or rooms and shut the door, or unplug things. Boys are SO different than girls.
6. He gives me kisses all day long. Big, wet, sloppy, loud kisses that melt my heart.
7. He loves firetrucks and fireman toys. I am sure Cody has done some early brainwashing, but he is always carrying a helmet or a truck around.

8. He continues to have a sweet demeanor, even when he does not feel good. In the past month he has had the flu, his ear has drained twice, and he has an upper respiratory virus. This little guys stays really sweet the entire time and just wants to chill out and be loved on. Here he is with 102 fever still just chilling out.
We love our little man.

Slow down, you're moving too fast....

...gotta make the morning last.

Last Sunday we were getting the kids ready for church and I just couldn't stop looking at them. They just look like they are growing up too fast these days. Carley is looking so much older and Corey is looking less like a baby. I just can't believe how quickly they are changing. Something about this Sunday and these outfits really accentuated it to me. Makes me not want to blink. :) I love my babies.

Star of the Week

Carley was star of the week this week. She was very excited to make her poster and get to talk to her class. Her favorite parts are getting to be the "line leader every time" and "getting to lead circle time so all the kids have to listen to me". That is my Carley-girl. She has a tad bit of her momma in her. :) She earned it for finishing the reading curriculum for the year, being a hard worker, and a good listener. Good job Carley! We love you little Sparkle Star.

January Jabberings

Hello Bloggers!

No big news on the Nelson front so here I go back to just some random jabberings and thoughts.
- I downloaded my 2010 blog to a book yesterday. If you have not done this, you should seriously think about it. I love mine from each year and each year I wish I blogged more. Just go to blurb.com to do it. It is so easy and really a priceless book.
- I have been doing lots of reading since I last posted about books. My favorite that I read were the Bridal Quartet series by Nora Roberts. They were great little reads. The first one is called Vision In White. If you are looking for a fun little 4 book series, this is a must. I just finished another book by her called Spellbound and it was good, a little weird, but a easy and fast read.
- I got an IPAD for Christmas and I LOVE IT! It is the best purchase I have made in years. I love to browse the internet, read books, and just use the different apps. My whole family loves it too. Cody and I have a mean Scrabble competition on it going on continuously and I am sad to say I have lost every game but one. It is really fun.
- TV is back on for the Spring Season. I am thinking of giving up Chuck. It is just not interesting to me anymore. We will see. The only series I picked up at the break was "Off the Map". I will see what I think. The first episode was pretty good. It is hard to have time for too much TV these days.
- Corey is the busiest toddler on the planet. He is in the bathtub, the cabinets, the toilet, the garage, and the closets all at the same time. He is hilarious. Carley always says he is "wild". I think it is so true. He is the cutest little wild man I know.
- Carley is wild in her own way. Her running commentary on life and our house is hysterical. She has quite a flair for the dramatic.
- I started teaching on Monday nights again at LCU. I really love my adjunct gig and getting to teach again. It does keep us busy though.

What is new in your world? Let's be better bloggers in 2011~

Carley's First Purchase

We did Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace this Fall. We loved the class but the 13 weeks got a little long. :) Carley had a wonderful curriculum in her classes during this time about finances and they got Carley started on some habits that made it easy for us to keep going. Two things really stuck with her. One idea was the "Commission Chart" where she earns a check for the things she does each day. The funny thing about Carley's chart is that it is not about completing the job, but about doing it without fighting us. That's my girl...opinionated and spirited. On Sunday morning we go through her chart and she gets a nickle for every check mark. Then they gave her 3 bags labeled "Give", "Save", and "Spend". She divides up her money in that order. Anyway, today she was so excited because Cody picked her up early from school and took her on a special errand. He took her to Toys R Us to use her Spend Money. We had a $5.00 coupon that he and I gave her towards her cause. She had $10.00 to spend (with our coupon) He said it was really eye opening for her to walk around the store and learn to look at the price for things that were under a 10. She finally bought a Dora Paint Book, a sticker book, and then a hot wheel ambulance for her brother (which I thought was sweet). Here is our big girl, fresh out of her bath, and using her new paints.

Random Pictures of 2011 so far

This has been a really busy week. I am super stressed, which I don't like. One thing that often makes me laugh is this home we have with my cute family. But this week we had something sad happen to us. Elly went missing. I have blogged about Elly many times. She is Carley's BELOVED lovie. We lost her on Saturday afternoon. Carley has been so sad. I found her this morning and the return of the prodical has been JOYFUL. Here she is at 1 and at 5 loving her lovie.
Also Carley has outgrown the fire helmet Cody made for her a couple of years ago. Yesterday her one came in the mail and her SWEET Daddy decorated it for her. She was thrilled. Who would not want a helmet like this?

Finally I took a picture of just Cody. He is so handsome. I wanted a picture in this shirt because it is one of his work uniforms and in my mind, when I think of Cody, he has on this shirt. This guy is our rock and my calm in the storm. Love you, babe.
