We did Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace this Fall. We loved the class but the 13 weeks got a little long. :) Carley had a wonderful curriculum in her classes during this time about finances and they got Carley started on some habits that made it easy for us to keep going. Two things really stuck with her. One idea was the "Commission Chart" where she earns a check for the things she does each day. The funny thing about Carley's chart is that it is not about completing the job, but about doing it without fighting us. That's my girl...opinionated and spirited. On Sunday morning we go through her chart and she gets a nickle for every check mark. Then they gave her 3 bags labeled "Give", "Save", and "Spend". She divides up her money in that order. Anyway, today she was so excited because Cody picked her up early from school and took her on a special errand. He took her to Toys R Us to use her Spend Money. We had a $5.00 coupon that he and I gave her towards her cause. She had $10.00 to spend (with our coupon) He said it was really eye opening for her to walk around the store and learn to look at the price for things that were under a 10. She finally bought a Dora Paint Book, a sticker book, and then a hot wheel ambulance for her brother (which I thought was sweet). Here is our big girl, fresh out of her bath, and using her new paints.
