The Olympics

It is crazy to me that it is 08/08/08 and time for the Olympics again. I get all hyped for Opening Ceremonies each year and then when they start I get bored with all the countries. I feel like deep down I am an Olympic slacker even though, I really do love the Olympics.

So this is my blogger questions: What type of Olympics Fan are you?

A. Gold Medal fan - You watch as much as possible and watch even the events that aren't popular. You know all the Olympians and have predictions on who wins what. You even DVR Olympic events you might miss. You sing loud every time the anthem is played.

B. Silver Medal fan - You are into several sports and keep up with them. You may not watch them every time they are on, but you are aware of the ranking each time on more than one sport.

C. Bronze Medal fan - You have your favorite sport or you favorite one or two athletes and you always watch and keep up with them.

D. Aluminum Foil fan - You watch the final events of one or two sports and going into it, you may only have barely heard of one of the athletes.

E. Silly Putty fan- you watch no final events but watch the medal ceremonies so you can see the American flag and still get a tear each time the anthem is played even though you do not know the sports.

F. Rhythmic Ribbon fan - When will the Olympics be over so good television will come on again.

Disclaimer - the types of fans were created quickly by Ashley and mean no insult to any type of fan or to rhythmic ribbons themselves.

So what kind of fan are you? :) Be honest!

Bronze with a little rhythmic ribbon because I actualy thought tonight "at least this year the olympics are during the rerun time of year, because after the strike we sure didn't need them messing our shows!"

Ash, you are so funny!!! I am either B or C, but I do sing along to the anthem every time. It's involuntary. I do not enjoy the opening ceremonies. They are boring. And I didn't want to miss Ghost Whisperer tonight because of them. So I don't know what group I am in, actually!!!!

I would say a Bronze fan. I enjoy the opening and closing ceremonies... follow Michael Phelps, gymnastics, and some other things on a very basic level.

Those levels are hilarious! You are a funny little kid....

I would have to go with either Bronze or Silver. I like watching the main USA contenders throughout and I like watching the finals for pretty much any event. I actually thought the opening ceremonies were amazing last night, mainly because of the shear scale and technology involved. I love swimming, diving, and gymnastics but I've even watched fencing, kayaking and curling (winter).

I am between a bronze medal fan and aluminum foil. I basically watch what is on when I sit down at the end of the night. But I watch something every day. I need to look up a schedule and see when my favorite sports are coming on b/c right now I am very out of the loop. Come to think of it, I may be closer to a Silly Putty fan. :-)

Alex is crazy and is a Gold fan. He calls the TV upstairs the Olympic station and has it on the internet now so he can download any events he may miss on the TiVo. He is nuts.

I am Bronze, but only because I have to be. I am trying to be his recreational companion. :)

For me, it's bronze, silver, and a lot of rhythmic ribbon. I confess that I didn't actually know the date of the Olympics, so it was a surprise to me to see it on last night. (RR) I love our national anthem so I always tear up a little when it is played at big events.(Silver) I only watched about 15 minutes of the opening ceremony.(RR) Truthfully, I haven't watched much in the last couple of Olympics(RR), so the only familiar names are Michael Phelps and that Coughlin girl. However today it happened to be on at lunch, and I got sucked in, so I watched it all afternoon and tonight too.(Bronze) And I agree with Marcia. If this were September, the Olympics would totally be in the way of Dwight Schrute, and that is not allowed. :)

I think I qualify with the Gold. Not sure if I know all the Olympians, but I did read the entire SI Olympic edition cover to cover a week or so ago so I would be all on top of Team USA and their sports. We DVR in our house as much as possible... I even watched fencing and handball yesterday and didn't go to bed until 2am! Love the Olympics... love it. This year I especially love how it is curing my sports itch through August into football season! YES!

I used to compete in interpretive ribboning and I resent that category. That being said, I am a gold fan of Ashley.

I'm somewhere between a Gold a Silver medal fan. I don't know all the Olympians by name, but I do watch the events constantly while they are on. Jeff laughs at my Olympic hangover every morning because I stay up too late watching TV.

I would have to say I'm probably a Silver Medal fan...only because there are a few events that I like to fast forward through! (thank you DVR!!!) :)

I'm a Silly Putty Fan. Actually I just wanted to type Silly Putty. You make me laugh, Ashley Nelson. Hope your school year is off to a great start!

I am between a Bronze and Aluminum Foil fan ... I am such a TV-flipper that I flip around and often stop on the olympics. But, I am not much of a consistent watcher. Fun post!

I am an Aluminum Foil Fan -- I watch the gymnastics and a little swimming when I can. I did watch the Opening Ceremony and was in awe, though!

Ash,
Sorry this has nothing to do with the Olympics....good luck with all you are working towards right now. I feel like gals like us are all kindred spirits, going through such a great desire to have children. Pray for us and we'll pray for you too. Hopefully God will bless us this week!

I found myself watching water polo the other day. Does that make me gold medal?!
