Tangled Birthday Party

Carley wanted a Tangled Birthday Party that we made a spa pajama party. The girls got manicures, pedicures, "facials", and make overs. It was precious and so cute. Carley had SO much fun and thought it was so special. She told me over and over again that it was the happiest she had ever been. Although we missed all of our family, it was such a low-key party only having Carley and 5 friends. My parents came and helped as well as my super-duper helper Susan. She is a dear friend and did an excellent job running the facials/make overs. Mom was in charge of manicures and I did the pedicures. Cody and Dad had the job of being in charge of Corey.

Make up finished. This next picture cracks me up. Look how seriously Carley was taking her facial. Our wonderful helper Miss Susan

Happy 5th Birthday, Carley!

Every year we say it, but how can she be another year older? 5! A whole hand! She is our little big girl and she is OH SO special.

The big things in Carley's 5th year were learning to read and becoming more independent. She loves to wear dresses and only dresses. She has opinions on her hair. (no bows at all and we cut her bangs). She still loves Princess and all things girly. She still sleeps with Elly every night. She loves being a big sister and her little brother, especially now that he can play with her some. She has started giving more grown up attitude. (slamming doors, telling us now, trying to bargain, etc.) She has a chore chart where she earns money for each check and is really interested in giving, saving, and spending. She likes to pray for people and really worries about people that are sick or hurting. She loves her individual time with Cody or me. She plays pretend alot with her dolls. Usually they are either having a baby, getting married, or shy and trying to meet new friends. Carley loves church, learning about Jesus, and getting to worship on Sunday mornings. She does not like picking out shoes, tangles, being rushed, being alone. She is turning into quite a little lady. It is hard to believe that 5 years can seem like a lifetime ago and yesterday all at the same time.

All of the Spanns (Cody's family) got together and took pictures to surprise his folks. They were so excited! Here is all 19 of us! Then we each took individual family pictures. My kids are looking too grown up!

Christmas 2010

** I have lost my camera so hopefully we will get some Christmas pictures borrowed or the camera found and posted soon. **

We had a wonderful and magical Christmas. The week started out not that wonderful when Corey woke up Monday the 20th with the flu and 104 fever. I guess the flu shot is not fool proof. So we spent the beginning of our break quarantined at home. Carley was bummed because she had some fun stuff planned with friends, but she did enjoy 2 days in her pjs. Wednesday the 22nd Corey woke up with a draining ear and an infection. Poor guy! (and poor momma could not keep him happy) It all turned around on Thursday. Friday (Christmas Eve) we went to mom and dad's house first thing so we could meet baby Addison Joy and see the rest of the O'Rear's. Precious does not even begin to describe that sweet baby girl and sweet little round face and cheeks. A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E! I loved hogging her and getting in some loving!

Carley, Camryn, and Lauren were nuts and so excited to be together. Corey loved the attention he got from everyone too. It was great to be together. Christmas Eve night I spent the night in my parent's basement with the 3 big girls so we could all sleep together and walk up stairs to see Santa. The girls were really hyped so I didn't sleep much, but they were SO cute! Carley and Cam were ready at 5:30 to open presents.

Santa brought Carley a Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) doll and he brought Corey a workbench. Cody and I gave Carley a Leapster and Corey a dumptruck with blocks and then we gave them some other little things. They were so happy. Corey was pretty oblivious, but Carley was all about it!

Monday night we had Christmas with the Spann Family. It was SO much fun. Frank and Oleta are so kind and generous. It was a wonderful week of family!

Carley's Christmas Carol

Two weeks ago I tried to take Carley's picture before church. She was mad about something so she would not smile for her picture. I showed her the first pictures several times over the next two weeks and she did not like her sad face. She really wanted me to retake her picture but I kept refusing. Finally last Sunday I dressed her up again and she gave her her best smile. I am glad the ghost of Christmas Present finally made her smile. :) She is so glad that there is a new picture of her.

Pajama Day

Last Friday was Pajama Day at school. Carley cracks me up. She wanted to wear her princess night gown...which turned into princess pajama pants, a tiara, a princess necklace, and 2 princess dolls. Then we topped it off with her rainbow fleece for her jacket. Cody calls her Punky Brewster. Can you see why?

Carley's Personal Message from Santa

Carley received a personal email from Santa today. I thought it was so cute! You have to watch the first couple of minutes to see the very customized email he sent. It is worth a watch.

Santa Land

We went to Santa Land tonight with my parents. We had such a good time. The weather was really cold, but not windy. Corey looked really cute in his dalmation hat and outfit. He told Santa he wanted a workbench for Christmas. (or I told Santa for him). Carley was so sweet and brave with Santa. She told him she wanted a Princess Aurora American Girl Doll. (which is really not an AG doll, it is a Toys R Us doll, but she calls it that so it works).

For a very special treat, we saw my friend, Brittany who had an awful bout with meningitis, a brain bleed, brain blood clots, and a possible stroke 9 weeks ago. Brittany was released from the rehab hospital today. AMAZING! Our God answers prayers.

Carley's Christmas Dance Recital

Carley had her Christmas Dance Recital on Tuesday. She was so cute and such a sweet little dancer. She had improved on many of her dance moves. The class she is in is much more challenging than what she has done in the past. I am really proud of her for working so hard.

1st Santa Picture

Santa came to the kids school on Wednesday. Carley was so excited because she got to take a picture with Corey AND Santa and introduce them. Corey looks completely unaware. This is my first Santa picture without tears since Carley was Corey's age! I guess my girl is getting big.

Addison Joy O'Rear

I am an Aunt again! YEAH! Alyssa and Clint welcomed sweet Addison Joy into the world. The bundle of Joy was 9lbs 5 ounces and 21.5 inches long! She is BEAUTIFUL! Alyssa did great and was a champ. The picture above melts my heart! I wish more than anything I was in Keller celebrating Addison's birth today! Can't wait for Christmas in a few weeks when I can hold her myself. Here is our new girl!
