Fall Festival

We had our church fall festival Sunday night. It was really fun. Carley had a blast, the turnout was really good, and the booths were great. Also, the Hispanic Congregation at our church made bricket burritos. They were AWESOME! Like crazy good. Also there were lots of families from the community there which made it neat too.

As always it was fun to see so many of Carley's little friends dressed up. I didn't get pictures of all the kids because Carley was done and tired of pictures, but here are a few of her buddies.

Down Memory Lane

My sister got tagged this one and I thought it was fun. You are supposed to post the 6th picture in the 6th file on your computer. Here is mine.

This is Carley at 10 weeks old. It was the first time she slept 8 hours straight.

Can you believe her hair? Wow, time totally flies. She was so tiny. Same little face I still see every morning.

I tag all of you. It is fun to see what is everyone's pictures!

Ruidosa

We went to Ruidosa with my family this weekend. It was so fun! Aside from the trip to Keller for the 4th of July, Cody and I haven't left Lubbock in over a year. It was time for a much needed vacation.

Here is my sister's blog for pictures and the run down. I have not had time to upload pictures yet.

Thanks Mom and Dad. He had such a good time!

Check it out!

My Big Girl!

Carley has been working really hard at finishing potty training. She started really being completely accident free two weeks ago. She started getting a smiley face on her chart whenever she stayed dry all day. Once she earned three, she got to go for ice cream. When she earned 4 more we went to the park.

When she earned 5 more we had made cupcakes.
And finally, after 6 more days she got to start dance class. It is a precious little class. 20 minutes of tap, 20 minutes of ballet, and 20 minutes of gymnastics. Carley loved it and was so proud of herself. I look forward to watching her grow and change on Tuesdays. :)

TV Update

It has been awhile so I thought I would do a TV thought update.

Good bye to Desperate Housewives and Heroes. Both of these shows just became too much for me to watch, too hard for me to follow, and too stupid for me to care about. I removed them from my DVR. Anyone else feel the same way? I also think I am going to take 90210 off the DVR. I am thinking about it at least. I really only like the Kelly Taylor storyline and Ethan and Annie. What do you think?

Private Practice was REALLY GOOD the first week and sad and weird the second week. It was a little too close on the family tree for me. I like the show overall this season.

Chuck was SO stinkin good last night. That show is so great. I just love it. How can you not root for Chuck Bartowsky?

The Office is hilarious every week. It might be the smartest and dumbest show on television. Brilliant.

Eli Stone starts tonight. I am excited to watch it.

I also DVRed My Own Worst Enemy with Christian Slater. I am going to watch it tonight. Did any of you watch it? What were your reviews?

Kath and Kim didn't impress me last week. It was too far out there.

What am I missing?

I do love Grey's. I probably should move this to my "Too stupid to watch" category, but I can't. It is too good. Alex and Izzie will end up being my favorite couple this season (if Alex stops with the gross girls) and Sloan and Lexie will be at the top of my list too. They just such fun characters.

Pumpkin Capital of the World and my Tag about Cody

Two Post In One
Not everyone knows that Floydada, TX is the Pumpkin Capital, but we were luck enough to visit the Pumpkin Festival today and had so much fun. My mom grew up on a farm outside of Floydada so she and my dad were all about taking Carley to the festival today. It was fun and she had a great time. A special treat was to randomly bump into the Green Family!

Reinforcing a love of Fair Food in my daughter.

Also, I got tagged by Kristin to tell some of Cody's favorite things
- Cody loves being a fireman. Any and all things first response related make this guy super happy.
- Cody loves to draw and is a really good artist. Not everyone knows this about him. When you come to our house, I can show you some of his "masterpieces".
- Cody loves baseball - especially the Yankees. He is always in a firefighter t-shirt or a Yankees t-shirt when he is not at work.
- Cody loves alone time. He is a quiet guy and can spend all day just piddling around the house.
- Cody loves home improvement projects. He is really gifted at building and fixing things and could work in our shop all day.
- Cody loves guns. He loves to go to the shooting range and to hunt and stuff like that.
- Cody loves Carley. She is his little buddy and he loves it. She totally idolizes her dad and thinks he hung the moon.
- Cody loves me. :)

Fun on the Farm

Tonight some of our friends had us out to their country home for a hayride and a cook out. We had so much fun. It is neat to see Carley growing up and able to hang out with kids that are older than her. We loved the hayride on a a beautiful west Texas night.

Carley, the "must be in charge" two year old that she is (no idea where she gets it :) ) spent most of the night driving around the other girls. She laughed and laughed and thought it was so fun.

Fireproof

Cody and I went and saw Fireproof today. It is by the same producers of Facing the Giants. It is is a Christian movie about a fireman and his wife who are about to get divorced. Of course I am a sucker for any fireman movie so I literally started crying in the opening credits. I would not say that Fireproof is as good as Giants, but both Cody and I were blessed tremendously by the movie. It is such an AMAZING and powerful reminder of where love truly comes from and what we must do to be able to love others. The added bonus is seeing Kirk Cameron again who we all love from years past. He does a great job and when he cries, you will want to cry too.

I am interested to see what others thought of it. You should all go see it. You will actually feel like you spent money on something worth while.

Have a blessed weekend.

Season's Greetings

Yes, bloggers, it is time again for my annual Season's Greetings post. This is where I talk about upcoming TV and get excited about the mindless waste of time I will be filling my mind with soon.

So here is my line up to plan on watching at first.

Sundays:
- Desperate Housewives - I am not sure about this whole 5 years in the future thing. They say it is the way to energize the show. We will see. I really am only going to give DH a week or two to suck me back in or I am going to have to break up with Wysteria Lane. I am hopeful that it becomes the funny comedy of a couple of years ago though.
- Brothers and Sisters - How i love this show. I say this all the time, but it NEVER disappoints me. Every episode is good. I remember that it ended with Robert and Kitty's wedding and something about Holly now running the corporation. I also remember that Justin and Rebecca, his nonsister, are going to hook up maybe. That is all I can remember. Can't wait to see the Walkers again.

Mondays -
- Heroes - The internet is full of hype for this show and it promises that the first episode will not disappoint. I really do hope this season is awesome and suspenseful. Can't wait to see what Sylar's new plan is. He is so creepy.
- Chuck - I love Chuck. Love it, love it, love it and I can't wait to see season two. This show is so hilarious and awesome and really, pretty clean for TV. Chuck is precious. :)
- My Own Worst Enemy - This is the one with Christian Slater. It doesn't premier until October. It looks really good and like a show Cody and I might watch together.

Tuesday -
- 90210 - I really do like 90210. My concern is that Kelly is only on for a few more episodes. I am assuming she and Sammy go see her baby's daddy. (Wasn't that a fun surprise!!!??) I do like Annie on the show and I like Silver. I just hope I like it enough to keep it up this fall.
- Biggest Loser - I always end up watching and crying over this show. I missed last week. Sometimes I wait a few weeks to get into it to decide who to root for. Also, this is a great show to watch on DVR because you can make it go faster.
- Eli Stone - I really liked this show last year. It was fresh and different and somehow I felt good after watching it. The other two Tuesday night shows might go, but I really think this one will stick around for me.

Wednesdays -
- Private Practice - I enjoy this show. I do not totally love the show though. I want to give it a good shot this fall. I do like Naomi and Taye Diggs and their story line. I still think I would rather work at Seattle Grace though.

Thursdays -
- The Office - no reason to even talk about it. Hilarious, awesome, smartest show on TV. Love it!
- Grey's - I really hope that both big events on the previews are dreams or mistakes or something. Derek I guess fathered Rose's kid and then got in a car accident. Come on' Grey's writers.....let me love Derek and Meredit together again...just for a few weeks. I really hope they get some good stuff for Alex (how does he not have a McName?) and Izzie. I also want McSteamy to get a love interest this season. Please do not show too much Callie and Erica. Gross.
- Kim and Kath - this show looks like it might be funny. It will be worth watching an episode or two to see.

Fridays -
- Friday Night Lights - When is it ever going to come back on? I swear. So annoying that it isn't starting up at the beginning. Coach Taylor and his wife are precious and I am ready to see some good teen angst again. Come back soon.

Whew, so that is what I am thinking about watching. What about you?

Tech Game

We took Carley to her first Texas Tech game this weekend. The last time Cody and I went to a game together, I was pregnant with Carley. Can it really be that three years have gone that fast? I know it is weird we haven't been to that many games together, it just hasn't worked out.

Carley has been so excited all week about the game. It was so funny. She did not like the first quarter at all. The sun was still on her and she was hot and unimpressed. The second quarter and half time were much better. We left at the beginning of the third quarter. She was totally done after that and made it clear to all those around.

We had a great weekend. Our dear friend Brian came to visit. He was an usher in our wedding but was on my side. We taught together for one year back in 2001 and have stayed really close friends. Brian and I talk at least once a week on the way to school and he and Cody have become great friends too. We all love it when he comes to visit. Carley thinks he is her friend and that makes him even more precious in our book. Thanks for coming to visit Brian. I love you dearly.

Carley thought it was so fun to dress just like me.

Rainy Weekend

I have never had school canceled before because of rain. Even Texas Tech is shut down for the day. Growing up and living in Lubbock rain is a rare joy. It is so funny, when it rains you can drive down the street and see people sitting in their garage with lawn chairs watching it. It is so funny. Well, Lubbock reported up to 9 inches in some places in the city in 24 hours and so we are flooded. No school today.

Carley and I are still in pjs, rocking, and watching cartoons. It is a great way to spend a Friday. We have company coming this weekend so it is nice to have a little more time to get ready for that and for our very busy weekend.

I really have nothing spectacular to blog about. Carley is doing great in school and most days is doing great at going potty. She wears panties all the time except to preschool where she wears a pull up under her panties. It is so cute. She is growing and changing each day and we marvel at the blessing and miracle she truly is.

I watched 90210 again this week and I am still not sure if I will be hooked or not. The part that got me most excited was the Kelly stuff which is not a good sign for the show. I really do like Silver though.

I am ready for my real shows to come back. I will do a post closer to about those shows, but I am excited.

Now I am going to go enjoy the rainy day at home.

Hope you have a good weekend.

Psalm 23

Here is Carley's newest memory verses. She gets so distracted by the webcam, but I am still proud of our little two year old for learning this Psalm. I wanted to document it for our little electronic blog scrapbook. I know it is so random that I always film these after her bath and when I have on no makeup, but she usually says scripture before bed so it just feels like the right time. Hope everyone has a good weekend. Thanks for forgiving my randomness in posting about 90210 and then scripture. :)

90210

Since you asked.......here is a quick summary of my thoughts on 90210.

- Kelly is still beautiful.
- I think Steve will be the father of her kid even though they made you think it might be Brandon.
- Brenda didn't fit in.
- Way TOO much sex. It really does blow my mind that a show like that was on at 7:00. Really? In the first 5 minutes Ethan was having a ridiculous experience in the school parking lot. Should have been left out.
- I like Annie.
- Who gets to fly to San Francisco for dinner other than Pretty Woman?
- Rob Estes is handsome.
- I am sad Becky and Uncle Jesse didn't work out.
- Lori Loughlin's comment to the principal's ex was hilarious.
- I like Dixon.
- There were a ton of sub plots in just the pilot - fight on the team, drug use, girl finds out boyfriend cheated, "not so sweet 16", school rivalry, grandma in a car accident. Seriously, that could have been a season in itself.
- Nat is old and the Peach Pit is on crack
- I loved seeing "Silver" and "Hannah Zuckerman-Vasquez"!!!!!

I thought the show was pretty good. It was okay enough to keep around. It has potential to be good. The thing is, I didn't feel good after watching it and it will be up against Biggest Loser, which is a feel good show. If I get into the characters and stories, I will probably watch, if not I will not. It was sort of like the first episodes of the original show (of which I was a HUGE fan), but it was no season three with the Kelly/Dylan/Brenda triangle.

What were your thoughts?

3 Fun Things

1. Fabulous K gave me a blog design! I am so excited! I love what she did! Thank you SO much!

2. Today was the first day of preschool for Carley! She was so excited and I was a nervous wreck. It is funny because I leave Carley every day, but today just felt so different. She had a GREAT day though and loved it. This morning she was so cute because she has fallen in love with her school shirt. She has wanted to wear it every day since she got it so she was so excited today to get to put it on. It was a great day for her and a big step for her silly momma.

3. 90210 starts tonight. Are you going to watch it?

We had a crappy week this week. Some weeks are full of roller coasters and that sums up our week. One of my dear friends sent me a card that had this on the inside and I thought it was really amazing. Hope your Labor Day weekend is restful and blessed and that this little poem speaks to you as well.

Don’t wish upon a shining star
Or put your trust in another,
But daily place the cares of your heart
In the hands of your Heavenly Father.

For He has heard your prayers
And He knows your heart,
And His answer’s a whisper away.
So don’t give up, don’t doubt His love,
But hold on in faith one more day.

And while you wait, keep your eyes on Jesus
Let your hope be in Him alone.
Let His Word give light to encourage your soul
And His Spirit give your heart a home.
