Carley is in full swing of teething. For a while she has been drooling a lot and chewing on everything, but now we are in full blown teething. Stuffy nose, fussiness, can't sleep, low grade fever, and all the other things that go along with it. It has been a really hard few days. We went to the dr to get her 6 month shots on Friday and she said Carley has the swollen gums and should have pearly whites within the next few weeks.
What worked for your kids to take the edge off a little? Any ideas? I could really use them and I could really use a night of sleep for Carley!

I feel your pain, Ashley! Jackson already has 6 complete teeth, 2 more that have broken through and more that have yet to break through (I haven't counted because he keeps trying to bite me when I put my finger in his mouth) as well as a drool faucet for a mouth (worse than I have ever seen it; he soaked through 5 shirts today, and I just gave up entirely on shorts). The past 3 nights have been torture for me and Boone with VERY little sleep. We even tried giving him a little Benadryl last night, and it did nothing. I have heard that the teething tablets work well and believe I will give them a shot tomorrow. I will let you know how that goes, and I look forward to all the advice you get!!!
Teething is so rough! I feel your pain! Nothing much worked for us, but one thing that did help was wetting a corner of a washcloth and sticking it in the freezer. Hudson would sit with me and suck on it for a good while. I feel like the teething battle never ends. Once a set come in it feels like the next set is on its way. Good luck!!!
Kate be sure and let us know about the teething tablets!
My friend is a believer in the teething tablets. They worked great on her son. We haven't had to try them yet. The first two teeth on my 7 month old came in without me noticing (lucky I know). So I do recomend the teething tablets. Good Luck.
Frozen Bannanas. Also, at Toys R Us, Baby section they have these mesh things that you can put fruit in, peaches are good, and they can not get big chunks that they might otherwise choke on. They are great and nutritious! Well I guess that depends upon what you put in there! Maybe we need to make a trip to Bahamma Bucks, that would probably feel good on her little gums and we have yet to meet her!
They have these Orajel swabs for babies. It helped us although I'm not sure mine is officially teething???
Chels used the teething tablets, and I think they worked for her. Also, the kiddos I kept in college used frozen bananas, as mentioned before. The lady who keeps Braden says frozen pancakes are what her kids loved.
Hope some of these help!
Okay, I have officially tried the teething tablets one time, and I have to say, they are great! Jackson is in bed (hopefully for the night). I think they have chamomille in them, so they pretty much knock the kiddos out, which I for one am extremely grateful for! This round of teeth coming in has been amazingly tough for Jackson, so the poor child has cried himself hoarse for two nights in a row and literally fell asleep mid-scream last night. Anyway, thus far, my impossible to get to sleep child is asleep a whole hour earlier than usual, so I am in love with teething tablets!
I also froze several of Jackson's toys last night, and they seemed to help during the day. I don't want to keep him constantly knocked out!
Teething tablets and about 1/2 tsp of Childrens Benadryl. Also try infant Mortin rather than tylenol--it lasts longer.
It's been said a few times...but Hyland's Teething Tablets (sold at any drug store) are AWESOME! They are all-natural, and I think they have some "all natural sleep-aids" in them too! :) They work like a charm...Carlie will go to the cabinet and ask for them now when her teeth are hurting (yes, she is STILL teething at almost 2 years old). Also, I gave my kids Motrin or Ibuprofen, because it did seem to work longer and better, as Lynley said....good luck!!!
Many moons ago when my girls were that little we went for the teething tablets, too. They seemed to distract if anything...we called them "tic-tacs." Sweet little baby you have there!
Ashley,
Sorry I don't have any great teeting tips, but I am really excited to have found your blog. You have a great looking family. Sounds like you are doing well, and that is good to know.

I used teething tablets! I tried the oragel and my little one thought I had played some cruel joke on her and she cried and cried and shoved her little face in my shoulder and rubbed it back and forth. The teething tablets dissolve almost at the touch of any liquid so you have to be ready for that but she loved them!
Please still be my friend!!! :)
I have no teething advice, but those 4th of July pics are PRECIOUS- the little girl cousins are absolutely adorable and you all look so happy & fantastic!
I am going through the exact same thing with Britten! The teething tablets are way awesome! I hope that you get some sleep soon! My prayers are with you!
Hi, I used to freeze dill pickles, the biggest ones; and give him that. He loved it!!
Once my son got teeth though, I didn't, for fear he'd bite off a piece.
Great for babies with no teeth yet!!
Also, you could wrap it in a cold wash cloth; the rough cloth, helps break the gums; and trust me, they'll bear down hard on it!!
This can also be done with an ice cube in it, instead of a frozen dill pickle.
There are also teething cookies out there you can buy. They are hard, and only soften when they gum the heck out of them.
As for sleep; if the baby sleeps all day, and not at night; he/she is off their AM-PM system.
My boss, when My son was born in 1988, came over and turned him over. head-first down, and around; like a cart-wheel(holding the baby)
Darn, if it didn't work!! First night, my son slept all night; first time in 4+ months!! My husband and I awoke in the middle of the night; looked at each other and yelled: 'the baby!" and ran, pushing each other out of the way to get to the nursery!! ahahaa it was funny at the time...
then, it took US a while, to sleep through the night! lol
g'luck
North
