I have to take a moment to talk about a guy who came into Corey's life this year and made a huge impact. Mr. Aaron is the aide in Corey's class. He is a great Christian guy with strong morals. He is kind, funny, musical, and just an all around good dude. He is Church of Christ, went to LCU, and several camps I have been to before.
Corey LOVES Mr. Aaron. Corey considers him one of his best friends. I want to write about this as a reminder to my kids who read this. When you are 24, take time to be a hero to someone young. Live the kind of life that parents want you to interact with their kids. Be a mentor. Be an example. Be about someone other than your self. Aaron Parrish made a huge difference in Corey's life this year.
When Corey got glasses, Aaron wore his glasses to work and taught Corey different glasses poses for different occasions. He dressed up like the Easter Bunny. He came to Corey's soccer game. He talked to him about Jesus and faith. He invited the kids to hear his band play. He taught Corey about musical instruments. He made Corey feel like a peer.
On the last day of school, Corey gave Aaron a hug and said, "I don't want to tell you good bye" and got very sad. Aaron assured him they would stay friends. I hope they do!
Go be that to someone else. Make a difference. Be a light!
