Vegas Vacation

Cody and I are going to do a weekend get a way in Vegas in October. (anyone want to come??)
I have been one time and stayed with my BFFVV, Tiffany at the Mandalay Bay. It was SO awesome, but pricey. Since we split the room, it wasn't a big deal.

Anyway, Cody has never been. I want us to stay at a cool place, but I am not sure if it is worth it to drop the BIG bucks at a super nice place. Where have you stayed when you were there and what would you recommend?

I am 99.5% sure that I am going to Vegas with a friend of mine from Missouri and some of her friends in a few weeks. I will let you know if the hotel we stay at is nice upon return!

Man, I wish I could go with you, but I have plans for the next few months :). I'm so sad because I think Celine Dion will be gone before I make it to her show :(. Last time I stayed at the Venetian, it was super nice and in the middle of the strip, but it was expensive! Have fun!

We stayed at the MGM. It was nice. We did a pkg through Southwest. i would recommend spending the $ on stuff besides the room. You are hardly in there. Definately stay on the strip though. We thought next time we went we might stay at NY NY. Kristin

I have stayed at Treasure Island and the Venetian. Everything is so nice you won't be able to go wrong. I would highly recommend laying out at your hotel pool a lot (they are all really nice and have TVs, drinks of whatever genre you approve of, shade, lawnchairs, magazines, waterfalls, etc) and just sightseeing or whatever else is free during the day (Treasure Island has a pirate ship show outside that is free like every hour on the hour and the fountains at the Bellagio) and then saving your money for a spa day or Cirque de Soleil or Blue Man Group Show or whatever. The hotels have AWESOME spas that are sooo worth it. You can spend all day in them and they have private pools and hot tubs and jars of iced cucumbers that you can just lay on your eyes and sleep in their quiet rooms all day. I love that kind of stuff.

ANYWAYS, not that I am a Vegas gambling junkie.

I meant to just comment on your working mom's post and say how much I appreciate it. I only work part time 10 hours a week and sometimes feel guilty how much I enjoy it. Sitting down to eat your lunch, adult conversation, etc. Being a mom is tough. It is the toughest thing I have ever done and sometimes I feel like everyone else just enjoys every second of it. Thanks for what you said. God used you to encourage me and remind me that I am not crazy or alone.

We stayed at NY NY and liked it but I agree that you are not in your room very much and I hear all the rooms are pretty much the same no matter how pretty the hotel is.

I am jealous! Y'all will have so much fun!

Don't ask me how I found stumbled onto your page, but, yes, it's a small world!! I am about to start one of my own,I think, even though mine won't have anything about kids!

Anyway, I've been to Vegas three times. The Venetian was fab, but pricey. I liked New York New York, too.

I have done the MGM twice, and the Flamingo. Run screaming into the night from the Flamingo, and treat yourself to one of the nice ones on the strip. I love the MGM b/c its in the heart of everything and has the biggest casino, Elvis impersonators, and nickel poker (my personal fave). And, as if I haven't already clinched it for you, I once met Corey Feldman there. He's pretty short.

I went to Vegas 10 years ago and stayed at the historic Sands hotel. However, it has since been demolished...no doubt due to health code violations! I don't have any recommendations on where to stay, but wherever you stay make sure that you devote some time to going through each of the hotels. They really know how to carry out a theme in Vegas! The MGM, the Excalibur, Treasure Island, etc...they are all fabulous to walk through even if you are staying someplace cheaper. Say hi to Barry Manilow for me...I love him!

I wish Keith and I could go...I'm jealous. You'll have to let me know if it's worth going there for a "romantic getaway." :-)
